Welcome to the Garden

"And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles."
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Do you remember when you were a child, and how it felt to have your own, secret hideaway?  How that one magical spot would make you feel like nothing in the world could touch you?  Like something straight out of a book.
When I was a kid, I had many of those spots.  Being the literary child I was, I named each after a place in one of my favorite books.  Many had names from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.  I even attempted to paint decorative signs for a few of them, and make it official.  But there was one title I kept in reserve until I found the absolute perfect place.  Like Mary Lennox, I wanted to find my own "bit of earth" and keep it special.

In 2014 I started blogging officially.  After much fussing, trials, and errors, I'd finally found my passion in writing articles for public consumption.  It combined my passion for creative writing, crafting, ministry, and finding kindred spirits.  I knew the only name for a place such as this was the one I'd been keeping in reserve.  While it wasn't a literal bit of earth, it was nonetheless a corner of the world I could call mine, and invite fellow kindred spirits in.  Thus, "My Secret Garden" was born.
In this blog, you'll find a great deal of diverse interest, thought, and posts.  I'm a Christian, southern woman seeking to share my experiences and interactions with the world with all of you.  I hope you'll find a kindred spirit in this pages.  I'm a total nerd, geek, fangirl, and whatever else you'd like to tack on there.  And not just of classic literature either.  I totally still freak out whenever my favorite middle grade author releases new art, sneak peaks, and teasers.  And Lord help everyone around me when the book itself actually comes out!  I also love video games.  I'm a big fan of RPG, and my favorite series is Kingdom Hearts!  Some of my favorite hobbies are to craft, scrapbook, and make things myself!  I enjoy creating jewelry and sewing projects as gifts for family and friends.  I obsessively watch movies, and will happily laugh and cry along with the characters.  Even if a movie is cheesy, a "they lived happily ever after", or totally cliche, if it is heart warming, stirring, or exciting, I'll probably love it!  Be warned, I'm also hugely proud of my heritage and home down here in Dixieland, so be prepared for complete southern bias.

Anyways, welcome again to my hideaway!  So take a look around, curl up in a patch of sunlight with a good book, and make yourself at home.  My garden is your garden.

Blessings,
Lauchlan

I'm Lauchlan though I've gone by many other names. I'm a blogger of sorts. The kind of girl who just writes whatever she feels or thinks. Sometimes you'll appreciate it, other times you may hate me. But I'm rarely deterred and so here's my crazy, messed up world.
